We will be welcoming everyone to join us for a welcome party from 1730-2030 on the terrace at Palácio da Lousã.

Saturday, May 23, 2026

Our ceremony will begin at 1400 in the herb garden. This will be a traditional Portuguese wedding so I do encourage you to come hungry and prepared for a long, delicious meal followed by a [long] night of dancing.

The reception will be followed by an after party in the living rooms of the Palácio. We will take a 30m break so everyone can change into their disco attire and get ready to boogie.

Octant Lousã is the location of both the welcome party and wedding. To book your stay here, please email events-lousa@octanthotels.com.

OH Studios is a [very] short walk to Octant and will have an additional 8 rooms. To book this hotel, please reach out directly to me.

Another short walk to Octant is Casa das Condessinhas. There will be 7 rooms available here, which will be a bit more spacious than OH studios. They also have common areas that include a pool, gym, and playground. To book your stay here please email casadascondessinhas@gmail.com w/ subject line "Marriage Campbell Duffy - 2026"

This is ~15m away from the venue. We will coordinate rides to and from for any guests that stay here. To book please email Geral@hotelparqueserradalousa.pt and let him know that you are with Kathleen, group 2416, for the wedding!

Hotel Parque Serra da Lousã

There are numerous options on Airbnb and VRBO in the town of Lousã; some of which we have booked in hopes of having additional lodging secured for guests. If you do choose to stay in one of those, or another hotel, please know you will always be welcome at Palácio da Lousã to utilize the amenities and spend time with us. Also, please keep us informed where you will be staying so we can ensure you are well taken care of.

If you are staying at Octant, please visit their website and browse their "experiences" brochure for countless amazing activities. They have so many wonderful options to choose from and I strongly encourage you to take advantage of them! They will also have massage therapists available and I recommend finding time to pamper yourself during the weekend! We will also have an 1115 yoga class on Friday, 5/22, for guests that will already be at the hotel. Please join us!

Octant Hotels Lousã

For a challenging 9 mile hike to explore the Schist Villages, I recommend Trilho das Aldeias Lousã. It runs along the Lousã mountain range following a path that connects numerous of the Schist Villages including Candal, Catarredor, and Talasnal.

For a more mellow but still challenging hike, I encourage you to venture along this trail to Talasnal. The village itself is absolutely gorgeous, and so is the walk to get there. There are a few bars and restaurants in the village to reward yourself at the halfway point.

If you are not in the mood for a hike, I strongly encourage you to venture up the road to Castelo da Lousã. The surrounding area is absolutely gorgeous, you can venture around the trails, or you can head down to the river beach and take a dip. There is an amazing restaurant just beyond the river beach called "O Burgo" that serves up some incredible, traditional Portuguese fare.

For delicious, traditional Portuguese food you need to go to O Burgo. Come hungry because they do not hold back on the quantity of food! I strongly encourage you to try the wild boar.

Here you can see bears, mouflons, lynxes and many other animals. In the park you can also get lost in a labyrinth of unique fruit trees. There is also an equestrian center, an eco-museum and cooperage museum. This is a wonderful place to visit if you are bringing your kids. If you are staying at Hotel Parque Serra De Lousa, this is just a short stroll away.

Just beyond Castelo da Lousã you will find this magical river beach nestled in the mountains. We recommend coming here for a quick dip on a hot day.

Right next to the hotel is our favorite, Q.B. Restobar. Go have the prawns!!!!

The University of Coimbra is one of the oldest universities in Europe, founded in 1290, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a beautiful place to explore, along with the entire city of Coimbra. It is a city full of rich cultural heritage and medieval architecture, and one of the oldest cities in Portugal.
